Soundcraftsmen built much of its reputation around audio equalization.  The company initially built strict equalizers, but later combined both pre-amplifier and equalizers into one unit.  Consequently, Soundcraftsmen supplied a good deal of such equipment to the recording industry, where equalization was so important to the recording process.  

Soundcraftsmen built on this reputation to offer studio-grade equalizers to stereo consumers as well.  It supplied a 33 & 1/3 LP record along with instructions to properly set up one's stereo system to compensate for room acoustics and other variables.  These records are still of value to Soundcraftsmen equalizer owners today and copies of this LP are routinely up for auction on eBay, along with a good deal of other Soundcraftsmen equipment.

The Preamplifier/Equalizers were distinguished from the strict equalizers by the addition of PE in front of the model number.  I have separated the listings in equalizers, which are listed to the left, and a separate section for the preamplifier/equalizers in the Preamplifier section listed elsewhere in this website.
